It's not just important to have a good night's sleep and take care of yourself during the day, it's also important to start your day off right. Let's look at how essential oils can help you do just that.

WHY USE ESSENTIAL OILS TO WAKE UP?

Essential oils are made from aromatic plant extracts, usually from flowers, trees, and plant leaves. They contain volatile,or easily evaporating, plant compounds called phytochemicals. Every essential oil has a distinct smell that comes from the phytochemicals contained in it. Essential oils are highly concentrated, and are usually much more powerful than the plant from which they were extracted.

3. Orange Essential OIl

How to Use Essential Oils in the Morning

Your body naturally reacts to scents, and each scent sends different messages to your brain. You can use these scents to tell your body to relax, be energized, or even improve your mood and your productivity.

Diffusing Essential Oils

Coffee is great in the morning, but it may not give you that extra boost of energy you need to start your day. Diffusing is a wonderful way to enjoy the stimulating effects of energizing essential oils.

All you need to do is add the essential oil drops of your chosen oil to your diffuser reservoir with the required amount of water for your machine.

Each aromatherapy diffuser varies so you will need to look at the manual or at your diffuser reservoir as it should have a fill line on it. Some machines may come with a measuring cup to assist you to fill your diffuser machine.

Essential Oil Shower Steam

If you don't have a diffuser or you are short on time in the mornings, try using essential oils in you shower. A shower steam is an easy way to get in a quick aromatherapy session as you bathe. You can do this by adding a few of drops of essential oils to your morning shower. Place the drops in the bottom of the shower away from the water stream when you are ready to get in.

The steam from the shower will release the aromatic goodness, this way you don’t have to worry about feeling groggy. By the time your done with your morning routine you will be ready to face the day!

Essential Oil Diffuser Blends for Morning Time

In the morning when you are ready to rise and shine, you probably have a routine that you stick to. You might have a cup of coffee or tea, you might meditate, or you might listen to music. Try adding adding essential oils to that routine.

There are a lot of ways to help you wake up in the morning, here are some energizing essential oil diffuser blends to add to your morning routine to do just that. To use, add the drops from your chosen diffuser recipe below to your diffuser with the recommended water for your machine. Turn on the aromatherapy mist and enjoy as you get ready for the day!

Good Morning Diffuser Blend

The citrus oils will make your mornings happier and the peppermint will help you wake up so you can focus on the day ahead of you.

  • 2 drops Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
  • 2 drops Lime (Citrus aurantifolia)
  • 2 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis)

Don't have a diffuser? You could also use this blend on an aromatherapy inhaler. Add 4 drops peppermint, 4 drops Lime and 4 drops Orange. Just keep on your nightstand and inhale right when you wake up. 

Refresh and Recharge

Create a sense of euphoria and boost your mood with this diffuser oil blend.

  • 3 drops Lime
  • 3 Drops Eucalyptus
  • 2 drops Rosemary

Energised Diffuser Recipe

Try this blend of essential oils for an uplifting aroma and a boost of energy.

  • 2 drops Lavender
  • 2 drops Lemon
  • 1 drop Basil

Sunshine Blend

As you breathe it in this oil blend you'll notice its refreshing scent, which can help you feel energized for the day ahead.

  • 3 drops Grapefruit
  • 2 drops Juniper
  • 2 drops Orange
  • 1 drop Lime

Happy Morning Diffuser Recipe

Not a morning person? Start feeling more awake and happy in the mornings with this oil blend.

  • 2 drops Lime
  • 2 drops Lavender
  • 2 drops Spearmint

Wake Up Essential Oil Blend

In the morning when you are ready to rise and shine, turn on this morning diffuser recipe. You can even prep the night before and have it ready so you only need to press the on button.

  • 3 drops Grapefruit
  • 2 drops Lime
  • 2 drops Lemon
  • 2 drops Spearmint

Safety Guidelines

Diffuse 30 minutes to 1 hour at a time. It is best not to apply undiluted essential oils onto the skin. When using essential oils topically on the skin, be sure to dilute with a carrier oil like jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. 

Using essential oils can improve a person’s emotional, physical, and mental state. For best results, make sure you use pure essential oils and learn how to use them properly.

People can have different responses to essential oils, you may find what works for one person, doesn't work for you.
